AI training data partnerships for automotive companies
Automotive businesses hold workshop repair orders, warranty claims, engineering change records and embedded software that show how vehicles are designed, built and fixed. Much of that knowledge is locked inside OEMs, tier-1 suppliers and dealer networks. Momentra helps automotive companies assess whether anonymized versions of it could be licensed for AI training.
Can automotive companies license or sell their data for AI training?
Automotive companies can license or sell anonymized service, warranty and engineering records as AI training data. Dealer repair orders with diagnostic steps, warranty claims with root cause reviews and engineering change records are the most valuable assets. VINs and owner details are removed, OEM-owned documents and software may need OEM permission, and telematics location data is generally excluded.
No files needed upfront. We sign an NDA before reviewing any sample.
Data automotive companies hold that AI can learn from
Service repair orders
Dealer workshop job cards with customer complaints, diagnostic steps, parts replaced and labour codes show real vehicle troubleshooting.
Warranty claims and analysis
Claims with failure descriptions, root cause reviews and accept or reject decisions capture structured judgment.
Engineering change records
ECRs and ECNs with reasons, impact assessments and approvals trace how product decisions are made.
Embedded and ECU software
Supplier and in-house code for controllers, diagnostics and infotainment, along with test records, is specialized engineering material.
Quality and PPAP documentation
8D reports, FMEAs, control plans and PPAP submissions show rigorous quality processes.
What this data helps AI models learn
Diagnostic assistants
Repair orders linking symptoms to fixes can help models suggest likely causes and the next test to run.
Embedded software engineering
Real automotive code with test history can help coding models work under safety-oriented constraints.
Quality problem-solving
8D and FMEA records can teach models structured root cause analysis.
Privacy and compliance, handled first
You decide what is in scope, nothing moves before an NDA, and data is anonymized before any further use.
Vehicle and owner identifiers
VINs, registration numbers, owner names and phone numbers in repair orders are removed or replaced before further use.
OEM and supplier IP
Dealers and suppliers often work with OEM-owned documents and software. These may need OEM permission, while your own records are more likely yours to license.
Connected vehicle and location data
Telematics and location traces can reveal personal movements and are generally excluded or handled only with strict anonymization.
How a partnership begins
Share Basic Information
Share only your contact, company, industry, and partnership interests—no raw data required.
Initial Value Assessment
We discuss the data type, completeness, scarcity, and the tasks it could support.
Define the NDA and Boundaries
Before reviewing any sample, we define confidentiality, permitted use, retention, and security requirements.
Receive an Offer and Begin the Partnership
We provide a purchase proposal and contract, then support de-identification and secure data transfer.
Frequently asked questions
- We are a dealer group. Can we license our workshop data?
- Your job cards and service history may be in scope once customer and vehicle identifiers are removed. Check your dealer agreement, as OEMs sometimes restrict how service data is used.
- Is safety-critical code too sensitive to share?
- That is your decision. Some companies exclude safety-critical modules and share tooling, test frameworks or older platforms instead.
- Do you want telematics data?
- Not as a focus. Location and driving data are personal and harder to anonymize. Engineering, service and quality records are usually a better fit.
- We are a tier-2 supplier. Is our data relevant?
- It can be. Manufacturing quality records, engineering changes and process documents from suppliers are often scarce.
