AI training data partnerships for SaaS companies
A SaaS business records far more than its code. It also stores the support tickets that show where users get stuck, the product specs behind each feature, and the incident postmortems from 2 a.m. outages. Together these show how a live product is built, run and fixed, which is the kind of end-to-end workflow AI developers are looking for.
Can SaaS companies license or sell their data for AI training?
SaaS companies may license or sell more than their code for AI training. Multi-tenant application code, support tickets escalated to engineering and fixed, and incident postmortems with runbooks are the strongest assets. Customer personal data in tickets and logs is removed first, and customer DPAs and terms of service are reviewed, since tenant data is a separate question.
No files needed upfront. We sign an NDA before reviewing any sample.
Data SaaS companies hold that AI can learn from
Multi-tenant application code
Codebases handling tenancy, billing, permissions and integrations solve hard problems that toy projects never touch. Their history shows how those systems evolved under real customer load.
Support tickets resolved by engineering
Tickets from Zendesk or Intercom that were escalated to engineering, diagnosed and fixed connect a customer's description of a problem to the code change that resolved it.
Product requirement documents
PRDs and feature specs, alongside the tickets and pull requests that implemented them, show how a business requirement turns into shipped software.
Incident postmortems and runbooks
Postmortems document what broke, how on-call engineers diagnosed it and what they changed. Runbooks capture the step-by-step operational knowledge that rarely gets written down elsewhere.
Release notes and changelogs
Versioned changelogs tied to commits help models understand how customer-facing descriptions map to underlying technical changes.
Integration and API code
Connectors to Salesforce, Stripe, Slack and other platforms encode how real systems talk to each other, including the retries and edge cases that documentation leaves out.
What this data helps AI models learn
Support agents that escalate correctly
Ticket histories can teach models when a question can be answered from documentation and when it signals a bug that needs engineering.
Spec-to-code generation
Linked PRDs, tickets and merged pull requests show the full path from a written requirement to working, tested code.
Operational and SRE assistants
Postmortems and runbooks help models learn to read alerts, form hypotheses about a failure and suggest safe remediation steps.
Privacy and compliance, handled first
You decide what is in scope, nothing moves before an NDA, and data is anonymized before any further use.
Customer data inside tickets and logs
Support conversations and logs contain end-user names, emails, account IDs and sometimes payment details. These are detected and removed or replaced during anonymization before any further use.
Your terms of service and DPAs
Data processing agreements with your customers may limit what you can do with data they submit. Tenant data is generally a different question from your own code and internal docs, and scoping should reflect what your contracts permit.
GDPR and DPDP obligations
If you serve users in the EU or India, personal data falls under GDPR or the DPDP Act 2023. Keeping personal data out of scope, or properly anonymizing it, is part of defining boundaries before transfer. This is not legal advice; your own counsel should confirm.
How a partnership begins
Share Basic Information
Share only your contact, company, industry, and partnership interests—no raw data required.
Initial Value Assessment
We discuss the data type, completeness, scarcity, and the tasks it could support.
Define the NDA and Boundaries
Before reviewing any sample, we define confidentiality, permitted use, retention, and security requirements.
Receive an Offer and Begin the Partnership
We provide a purchase proposal and contract, then support de-identification and secure data transfer.
Frequently asked questions
- Can we include customer support tickets?
- Possibly, if your terms with customers allow it and the tickets are de-identified. Many SaaS companies start with their own code, specs and internal docs, then decide on support data separately.
- Is a small SaaS product worth assessing?
- Size alone does not decide value. A smaller product with clean history, linked tickets and good tests may be more useful than a large codebase with little context. Not every dataset qualifies, and the initial assessment is meant to find that out early.
- Would licensing data affect our SOC 2 status?
- Any transfer should follow your existing security controls. Retention, access and secure transfer are defined in the NDA and agreement so they can be documented alongside your SOC 2 processes.
- Do we have to choose between licensing and selling?
- No decision is needed up front. Licensing, outright purchase and custom project partnerships are all possible, and the right model depends on the data and your preferences.
