Call Center Recordings & Transcripts as AI training data

Contact centres hold years of real spoken conversations: customers explaining problems in their own words, agents handling interruptions, transfers and escalations. Paired with disposition codes and QA scores, those calls show what a good resolution sounds like. Because every call contains personal data, this is also one of the most carefully handled data types Momentra works with.

Can Call Center Recordings & Transcripts be used as AI training data?

Call center recordings and transcripts can be used as AI training data only with a lawful basis and careful de-identification. Timestamped transcripts with speaker labels, disposition codes and QA scorecards are the most valuable elements. Whether the recording notice covers licensing is checked first, spoken card numbers and OTPs are removed, and voice may be transformed or excluded.

No files needed upfront. We sign an NDA before reviewing any sample.

What can be included

You choose the scope. These are the parts of Call Center Recordings & Transcripts that are typically most useful.

  • ✓Call audio from your recording platform, ideally stereo with agent and customer on separate channels
  • ✓Speech-to-text transcripts with timestamps and speaker labels
  • ✓Disposition and wrap-up codes entered by the agent at the end of each call
  • ✓QA scorecards with evaluator comments and coaching notes
  • ✓IVR paths, hold, transfer and conference events from the ACD or CTI system
  • ✓Linked CRM case or ticket outcome for calls that were tracked after the conversation
  • ✓Agent scripts, call flow guides and escalation matrices used at the time

Why AI labs value it

Real spoken dialogue

Telephony audio includes background noise, cross-talk, accents and code-mixed speech such as Hinglish. Speech and voice-agent models need this kind of material, and studio-quality recordings do not substitute for it.

Outcomes attached to conversations

Dispositions, QA scores and linked case outcomes turn a call into a labelled example: was the issue resolved, escalated or abandoned? That label is what lets a model learn the difference between a good and a poor call.

Escalation and handoff behaviour

Transfers between tiers, supervisor barge-ins and callbacks show how a real support operation handles difficult cases, which is hard to simulate with scripted data.

How it is scoped, exported and anonymized

01

Check the consent and lawful basis

Most callers hear a notice that the call may be recorded for quality or training. Whether that notice covers licensing de-identified data to a third party for AI training depends on its wording and on the laws that apply, such as India's DPDP Act 2023 or GDPR. Your counsel makes that call; we help identify queues or regions that should be excluded.

02

Remove payment and identity details

Card numbers, CVVs, OTPs, account numbers, addresses and names spoken during calls are detected in transcripts and the matching audio segments are silenced or masked. Calls handled under PCI-DSS pause-and-resume rules still get checked, because pauses are sometimes missed.

03

Decide how voice itself is treated

A voice can identify a person. Depending on the agreement, a partnership may cover transcripts only, audio with voice transformation, or original audio where the legal basis supports it. Sensitive queues such as collections, health-related lines or calls involving minors are typically scoped out.

How a partnership begins

01 / CONTACT

Share Basic Information

Share only your contact, company, industry, and partnership interests—no raw data required.

02 / DISCOVER

Initial Value Assessment

We discuss the data type, completeness, scarcity, and the tasks it could support.

03 / PROTECT

Define the NDA and Boundaries

Before reviewing any sample, we define confidentiality, permitted use, retention, and security requirements.

04 / PARTNER

Receive an Offer and Begin the Partnership

We provide a purchase proposal and contract, then support de-identification and secure data transfer.

Frequently asked questions

Can we share transcripts only, without audio?
Yes. Transcript-only partnerships are common and lower the privacy risk. Audio has additional value for speech models, but whether to include it is your choice.
Does our 'this call may be recorded' message cover this use?
It depends on the exact wording, the purpose you stated and the jurisdictions involved. This is a question for your legal team, and nothing here is legal advice. If the notice does not cover it, those calls can be excluded or only fully de-identified transcripts considered.
Are recordings in Indian languages useful?
They can be. Real conversations in Hindi, Tamil, Bengali and other languages, including code-mixed speech, can be harder for AI developers to find. The value assessment looks at language mix, audio quality and how well calls are labelled.
We are a BPO handling calls for clients. Can we license those calls?
Only with your clients' permission. The recordings usually belong to or are controlled by the client under your service agreement, so the client needs to agree before any of their calls are in scope.
