Confluence Spaces as AI training data

Confluence tends to become a company's long-term memory: technical specs, decision records, meeting notes, incident postmortems and how-to pages, each with a version history showing how it was revised. For AI models that need to read and write real business documents, a well-used Confluence site can be a rich source. Momentra helps assess whether your spaces qualify.

Can Confluence Spaces be used as AI training data?

Confluence spaces can be licensed as AI training data when they hold well-used business documents with version history. Technical specs and decision records, incident postmortems and runbooks, and page comments are the most valuable content. You select the spaces, so HR, legal, finance and client spaces typically stay out, and attachments are reviewed and de-identified or excluded.

No files needed upfront. We sign an NDA before reviewing any sample.

What can be included

You choose the scope. These are the parts of Confluence Spaces that are typically most useful.

  • ✓Pages and child-page trees within selected spaces
  • ✓Page version history showing edits and who-changed-what over time
  • ✓Templates in use, such as decision logs, requirements, retrospectives and how-to articles
  • ✓Inline and footer comments on pages
  • ✓Incident postmortems and runbooks linked from on-call processes
  • ✓Embedded Jira issue macros and links that connect docs to tracked work

Why AI labs value it

Documents that link to outcomes

A Confluence requirements page often embeds the Jira issues that delivered it, and a postmortem links to the fixes. That connection lets a document be paired with what happened next.

Revisions show thinking

Page history reveals how a design or policy was drafted, challenged and revised. Models can learn from the edits, not only the final version.

Business writing at scale

Thousands of internal pages written for colleagues show how real companies explain processes, record decisions and hand over knowledge. Public text rarely captures this.

How it is scoped, exported and anonymized

01

Exclude sensitive spaces

HR, legal, finance and client spaces are common in Confluence. You select which spaces are in scope, and personal or client-owned material is excluded or cleared first.

02

Export format

Space exports to XML keep page hierarchy, history and comments, while HTML or PDF exports lose much of it. The method is chosen after the NDA based on Cloud or Data Center setup.

03

Attachments and embedded content

Attached spreadsheets, screenshots and diagrams can hold personal or confidential data. They are reviewed and de-identified, or left out if you prefer.

How a partnership begins

01 / CONTACT

Share Basic Information

Share only your contact, company, industry, and partnership interests—no raw data required.

02 / DISCOVER

Initial Value Assessment

We discuss the data type, completeness, scarcity, and the tasks it could support.

03 / PROTECT

Define the NDA and Boundaries

Before reviewing any sample, we define confidentiality, permitted use, retention, and security requirements.

04 / PARTNER

Receive an Offer and Begin the Partnership

We provide a purchase proposal and contract, then support de-identification and secure data transfer.

Frequently asked questions

Much of our Confluence is outdated. Is old content useful?
Outdated pages can still show how processes and systems were documented at the time. Duplicate or empty pages add little, and the assessment helps separate the two.
Can personal spaces be included?
Personal spaces usually belong to individual employees and often hold private notes, so they are generally excluded unless there is a clear basis to include them.
How do you handle names in meeting notes?
Attendee lists, @mentions and names in text are detected and removed or replaced, so the content of the meeting stays while people are not identified.
Is this the same as giving access to our Atlassian account?
No. Nothing is accessed at the start, and any export after the NDA is limited to spaces you choose. Momentra has no affiliation with Atlassian.
