Financial Models & Analyses as AI training data
Financial models capture professional judgement in a form that can be traced: assumptions on one tab, linked statements on the next, scenarios and sensitivities at the end. When a forecast can be compared with what actually happened, the model also comes with a result. Momentra helps finance teams, advisers and investors assess whether past models could be licensed without exposing confidential information.
Can Financial Models & Analyses be used as AI training data?
Financial models and analyses may be licensed as AI training data, especially when a forecast can be compared with actual results. Three-statement models, DCF and LBO valuation models, and budget-versus-actual analyses with commentary are the strongest assets. Models for live transactions or unpublished price-sensitive information are excluded, and company names are removed while figures can be scaled.
No files needed upfront. We sign an NDA before reviewing any sample.

Why AI labs value it
Traceable assumptions
Every output in a good model traces back to an input. That chain lets a model learn how analysts build forecasts, not just the final numbers.
Forecasts with known outcomes
An older forecast set against actual results shows how accurate the assumptions were. That makes historical models useful for evaluating financial reasoning.
Commentary that explains numbers
Variance commentary and memos explain why figures moved. Pairing written explanation with the numbers is what finance assistants need to learn.
How it is scoped, exported and anonymized
Keep the working file
Models are shared in native Excel or Sheets format with formulas intact, along with any memo or deck they supported.
Exclude live and price-sensitive material
Models for live transactions, or containing unpublished price-sensitive information about listed companies, are left out. Rules such as SEBI's insider trading regulations can apply, so only closed and non-sensitive work is considered.
Disguise the company
Company and counterparty names are removed, and figures can be scaled or shifted while keeping the relationships between them. Engagement letters are checked where the model was built for a client.

Frequently asked questions
- Can we include models we built for clients?
- Only if your engagement terms allow it or the client agrees. Many advisory engagements treat client work as confidential, so this is checked first.
- Can the numbers be disguised?
- Yes. Scaling or shifting figures is common, provided the model still calculates correctly. The approach is agreed in the contract.
- How old can the models be?
- Older models can be more useful because actual results are now known. What matters is that the file is complete and still works.
- Are standard templates worth anything?
- Generic templates add little. Models adapted to a real business, with real assumptions and reviewer notes, are what tend to qualify.
