AI training data partnerships for healthtech companies

Healthtech companies sit between software and medicine. Their codebases handle HL7 and FHIR messages, telemedicine flows, e-prescriptions and insurance integrations, while their product teams document how clinical workflows map to software. Much of the most useful data here is the engineering and product record, not patient data.

Can healthtech companies license or sell their data for AI training?

Healthtech companies may license their engineering and product record as AI training data, usually without any patient data. HL7 and FHIR integration code, clinical workflow specs and clinician-reviewed triage logic are the strongest assets. Patient data processed for hospitals or clinics typically belongs to those customers and may need their permission, so protected health information is kept out of scope.

No files needed upfront. We sign an NDA before reviewing any sample.

Data healthtech companies hold that AI can learn from

Health data integration code

HL7 v2 parsers, FHIR resource mappings and EHR connectors encode hard-won knowledge about messy real-world health data standards.

Clinical workflow specs

Product specs that translate a clinician's process, such as e-prescribing or lab ordering, into software requirements show how domain knowledge becomes features.

Symptom checker and triage logic

Decision trees and rules reviewed by clinicians, with change history, document structured medical reasoning.

Support and clinician feedback tickets

Tickets from doctors, clinics and patients about product issues show where clinical software breaks down in practice.

Compliance and validation documentation

Software validation records, risk files and audit documentation for regulated features show how health software is tested and approved.

What this data helps AI models learn

Health interoperability coding

FHIR and HL7 code helps models write and debug integrations that follow health data standards.

Clinical product reasoning

Specs linked to clinical workflows teach models to understand the context behind health software requirements.

Support automation for clinical tools

Ticket histories can help models learn to resolve product issues raised by clinicians and patients.

Privacy and compliance, handled first

You decide what is in scope, nothing moves before an NDA, and data is anonymized before any further use.

Patient data processed for customers

Healthtech companies often process patient data on behalf of hospitals or clinics. That data usually belongs to the customer, may need their permission and is typically kept out of scope.

Health data regulation

Depending on market, HIPAA, GDPR, the DPDP Act 2023 or ABDM-related guidelines may apply. Keeping protected health information out of scope or de-identifying it is set during the NDA and boundaries stage. This is not legal advice.

Medical device software rules

Features regulated as software as a medical device carry documentation obligations. Including validation records should be checked against those obligations.

How a partnership begins

01 / CONTACT

Share Basic Information

Share only your contact, company, industry, and partnership interests—no raw data required.

02 / DISCOVER

Initial Value Assessment

We discuss the data type, completeness, scarcity, and the tasks it could support.

03 / PROTECT

Define the NDA and Boundaries

Before reviewing any sample, we define confidentiality, permitted use, retention, and security requirements.

04 / PARTNER

Receive an Offer and Begin the Partnership

We provide a purchase proposal and contract, then support de-identification and secure data transfer.

Frequently asked questions

Is our code valuable without any patient data?
It can be. Integration code, clinical logic and product specs are often the main value, and contain no patient data when test fixtures are cleaned.
What about test data in our repos?
Fixtures and sample records are checked during anonymization. Synthetic data is fine; anything derived from real patients is removed or replaced.
We sell to hospitals. Do our contracts matter?
Yes. Customer agreements and business associate agreements may restrict use of data you process for them. Those terms shape what can be in scope.
Can a healthtech that shut down still participate?
Possibly. Codebases from wound-down companies may still qualify if ownership is clear.
